A Personal note from Rich Malagrifa

Background

Rich Malagrifa was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts where his parents continue to reside. After graduating from Lynn English High School in 1980, Rich attended St. Louis University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering. After college, he returned to Lynn and worked at General Electric for one year while waiting to go to Air Force Pilot Training in Wichita Falls, Texas. Upon completing pilot training, Rich spent ten years serving in the United States Air Force flying A-10s, T-37s, T-38s and T-3s. During those ten years, he also attended survival training, Squadron Officer School, and three different instructor upgrade courses (T-3, T-37, and T-38).

In 1991, after completing his service in the United States Air Force, Rich was hired by Delta Airlines. Rich has had an exemplary career with Delta Airlines having now flown for them for over 18 years (including a 5 year furlough). Rich currently holds the position of Captain on the MD-88/MD-90 and is based in New York. Over the years, while serving in the military and working for Delta Airlines, Rich has resided in Wichita Falls, Del Rio, Dallas, and San Antonio, Texas also in Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arizona. Rich moved back to Massachusetts in 2005 settling here in Swampscott in the home his grandparents raised their family in. The majority of his immediate and extended family continue to reside in Swampscott, Marblehead and Lynn except for his daughter, Amy, who lives in Phoenix, Az.

Rich currently maintains membership with the Airline Pilots Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, and AMVETS. Rich is also an active parishioner at St. John's Catholic Church located in Swampscott.
